Watch the highlights from the New Statesman’s Politics Live

Some of the biggest names in British politics convened to discuss the crucial issues of the day.

By Hugh Smiley and Chris Stone

At a time of great disruption in British politics, with the cost-of-living crisis, fallout from partygate and the war in Ukraine, the New Statesman‘s flagship event, Politics Live, showcased the very best of our political coverage and provided delegates with invaluable access and insight into those responsible for governing the UK.

Those present on 28 June had the opportunity to hear first-hand from Keir Starmer, the Labour leader; Ben Wallace, the Defence Secretary; Sajid Javid, the Health Secretary at the time; Louise Haigh, the Labour MP; Professor Sarah Gilbert, the vaccinologist and one of the co-creators of the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine; Jeremy Hunt, the former health secretary; Nikki da Costa, a former Downing Street aide; and Andrew Marr, the New Statesman‘s political editor.

This essential event will return on 27 June 2023 to confirm its status as Britain’s most thought-provoking and dynamic political conference. Watch the highlights video and secure your place for next year’s conference.
