Prime Minister Boris Johnson will on Sunday announce the UK’s route out of lockdown, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. The economy, education and, most crucially, health of the nation hang in the balance. Whatever he decides, it’s likely to be the defining moment of his career, writes New Statesman political correspondent Ailbhe Rea.

“History is watching this cabinet meeting and this Prime Minister, as they move to lead the country out of an economic crisis and a public health crisis that are inextricably linked,” she writes.
