“You have Euros in Ireland? WHY?!”: watch this flabbergasted CNBC anchor

"What about Scotland?"

By Media Mole

Martin Shanahan, the CEO of financial advice company IDA Ireland, was interviewed on the American news channel CNBC. During a dramatic programme, he told them the show-stopping news that Ireland has the Euro.

Watch it here, from seven minutes in:

Shanahan is remarkably patient with the flabbergasted anchor’s questions, of which this mole’s favourite is when he gestures hysterically with both arms to demonstrate how close Ireland is to the UK and asks, “aren’t you right next to… err… sort of the same island isn’t it?”
