WATCH: Andrea Leadsom’s David Brent moment at Tory conference

“Doesn’t he..? Yes, he does.”

By Media Mole

Business Secretary and chilled-out entertainer Andrea Leadsom had a shocker of a tough crowd at the Conservative Party Conference, when she was greeted with silence, glum faces, and a half-hearted smattering of applause during her speech.

In a scene reminiscent of The Office’s David Brent trying to gee up his new colleagues, Leadsom attempted to enthuse the conference floor about Boris Johnson’s “pizzazz and personality”.

“He has the pizzazz and personality to get Brexit over the line,” she gushed, fists clenched in a tell-tale of desperation. “Doesn’t he?”

“…yes, he does.”
