Things that look like Mandelson

Giving a whole new meaning to Peter's friends

By Jon Bernstein

Subscribers and regular readers of the magazine will be familiar with the lookalike feature we introduced when we relaunched the New Statesman back in September.

We kicked things off with some Boris-alikes (a poodle, Debbie Harry and, er, Stanley Johnson, among others).

A few weeks ago, we switched horses and are now looking for things which — and people who — look like the Business Secretary, Peter Mandelson. We were rather taken with the similarities between Mandelson and the pre-Live Aid Midge Ure (above) while, for our Christmas issue, we matched Mandy with Basil Fawlty. Really. It works.
