By Staff Blogger

The American actor Tony Curtis died yesterday at his home at the age of 85. Curtis was a giant in the Hollywood film industry, perhaps best known for his role opposite Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon in 1959’s Some Like It Hot. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for portraying an escaped convict in The Defiant Ones in 1958.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Vandenberg Curtis, and six children, including the actress Jamie Lee Curtis.
