An A-Z of jobs under £50,000 that Theresa May says are not skilled

Theresa May announces an end to low-skilled EU migration for salaries below a certain threshold.

The Prime Minister wants fewer low-skilled migrants coming to the UK, which under current income requirements for non-EU citizens could effectively rule out jobs that are paid less than £50,000 a year, according to the BBC’s Today programme.

Theresa May outlined proposals to end freedom of movement and introduce new immigration rules as a replacement from January 2021 – meaning that EU nationals will no longer be able to come to Britain to seek work. Instead, they’ll have to apply for mainly “skilled” jobs on the same basis as non-EU migrants, which includes meeting a high salary threshold, under a system designed when May was home secretary.

That wildly high, arbitrary figure shuts out a lot of, well, skilled and vital jobs.
