Lib Dem MP hails Tory defeat

Julian Huppert goes off message: "Cambridge is officially Tory-free. Very satisfying!"

Talk of an electoral pact between the Tories and the Lib Dems may persist but not everyone has abandoned their tribal loyalties.

Following last night’s Coleridge by-election, the Lib Dem MP Julian Huppert tweeted: “Cambridge is officially Tory-free. Very satisfying!”

That it was Labour, not the Lib Dems (who finished a poor third), which won the seat off the Tories makes his comments all the more revealing.
