“Let’s find you a nice boyfriend and you can have a baby by the time you’re 27“: Kirstie Allsopp tells young women

Property expert and Location, Location, Location presenter Kirstie Allsopp has caused outrage by suggesting women skip university and settle down first.

Location, Location, Location presenter and professional on-screen découpage merchant Kirstie Allsopp has made some controversial comments in an interview with the Telegraph.

Discussing the “huge inequality” created by women being under pressure to have children, and men who don’t have the same time pressure, she said:

I don’t have a girl, but if I did I’d be saying ‘Darling, do you know what? Don’t go to university. Start work straight after school, stay at home, save up your deposit – I’ll help you, let’s get you into a flat. And then we can find you a nice boyfriend and you can have a baby by the time you’re 27.

In the same interview, she calls herself “a passionate feminist”, and insists, “we have not been honest enough with women” on the issue of making time to have children.
