Students could sit A-level and GCSE exams later this year if they are unhappy with the calculated grades they are awarded this summer, the government has suggested.
In proposals published today, the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqal) confirmed that grades awarded this summer would be standardised, and would take into account teacher assessments, expected national results, previous results of the school or college in question and prior attainment of groups of students.
If students are not happy with the results they are given, they can sit their exams in October for A-levels or November for GCSEs, it said. Any students that cannot receive calculated grades can also take their exams at this time.
