Okay, so he didn’t actually win anything. Even with Labour’s polls flatlining from the end of 2007, the backing of Murdoch, and Lord Ashcroft’s warchest Cameron’s Conservatives fell short in the general election. Despite all that, Cameron is still in Number 10 and presides over what is effectively a Tory government. The few powerful Lib Dems in the cabinet — such as David Laws and Vince Cable — have merrily shot themselves in the foot. Cameron has had little difficulty in steam-rolling Conservative policy past his Lib Dem partners. On top of this, he became a father for the fourth time. One minor general election mishap aside, it has been a good year for Cameron.
