Trump to female reporter: “You’re not thinking, I know you never do”

The president attacked a reporter from ABC News during a press conference at the White House.

At a characteristically rambling press conference President Trump gave today at the White House announcing a new trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, one moment stood out as particularly ugly.

Asked a question about the FBI investigation into Brett Kavanaugh, Trump’s second Supreme Court nominee, who has been the subject of at least three accusations of sexual misconduct (Kavanaugh strenuously denies the allegations), Trump called on a female reporter, ABC News’s Cecilia Vega.

“She’s shocked I picked her, she’s in a state of shock,” Trump said.

“I’m not, thank you, Mr. President,” Vega replied.

“That’s OK. I know you’re not thinking. You never do,” Trump said.

“I’m sorry?” Vega said, clearly shocked.

“No, go ahead,” Trump said.

Vega then went on to ask about the scope of the FBI investigation into Kavanaugh, but Trump overruled her. “Do you have a question about trade?” he asked.
