Whack-a-Mole: ex-White House aide wonders why George HW Bush isn’t at George HW Bush’s funeral

Confused? Us too.

By Media Mole

It’s hard to imagine what might have been going through the former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer’s mind during George H.W. Bush’s funeral, when he tapped out this incredible piece of historical analysis:

“Look in the box, Ari,” one astute Twitter user replied.

Had he momentarily forgotten which funeral he was attending? Does he think that President Bush and George H.W. Bush are two different people? Or that America is burying Dubya?

Or does his mind just work in a very weird way? Is he the kind of person who might, for example, resentfully mutter at his mother’s funeral: “Isn’t it a shame that mum hasn’t turned up today”?

A subsequent tweet sent ten minutes later did little to clear things up.
