A correction of the New York Times book review of Rivka Galchen’s American Innovations suggests the reviewer didn’t quite manage to work through all the short stories in the collection.
The review (pre-correction) fixated on the fact that the stories, “are narrated with one exception by variations of a particular sort of woman: in her 30s, living in New York, nominally Jewish.”
But this correction at the bottom says that, actually, they’re just not.
Writing fiction is tougher than it seems.
