Read this New York Times correction of a book review preoccupied with “a particular sort of woman“

A New York Times review of a book of short stories, American Innovations, complains that all the stories are narrated by "a particular sort of woman". They're not.

A correction of the New York Times book review of Rivka Galchen’s American Innovations suggests the reviewer didn’t quite manage to work through all the short stories in the collection.

The review (pre-correction) fixated on the fact that the stories, “are narrated with one exception by variations of a particular sort of woman: in her 30s, living in New York, nominally Jewish.”

But this correction at the bottom says that, actually, they’re just not.

Writing fiction is tougher than it seems.
