Every social care worker in Wales will be handed a £500 cash bonus to recognise the “greater degree of risk” they are accepting at work, First Minister Mark Drakeford has announced.
More than 64,000 workers will receive the payments, at a cost of £32.2m.
The money will be paid at a flat rate, meaning it will make the biggest difference to the lowest paid staff, Drakeford said.
