The pope tweets for the first time, in front of an audience of hundreds: video

Pontifex tweetius!

By Alex Hern

Via Rocco Palmo, we have video of the Pope sending his very first tweet:

If you are a pope, sending a tweet involves:

  • An audience of hundreds.
  • A specially prepared iPad.
  • A table – to be removed once the tweet has been sent.
  • Encouraging applause following your first, tentative touch of the hardware.
  • And Jesus, I guess?
