Your mole was surprised as anyone when George “six jobs” Osborne became editor of the Evening Standard. The only consolation was that the former Chancellor is no fan of Theresa May, and so has been making life difficult for the PM in the usually slavishly Tory newspaper.
But a bit of mischievous headline-based revenge is nothing compared to what Esquire has uncovered in a new profile of Osborne.
The piece, which was published today, claims that Osborne has told more than one insider at the paper that he will not rest until May “is chopped up in bags in my freezer”:

As if we needed any further proof that Osborne is an evil villain with nefarious plots and an unusually roomy freezer (for chilling all those Moët jeroboams).
But there is a serious point to this. Yes, it’s an anonymous quote, and yes, it’s single-sourced, but whether it came from the horse’s mouth or not, your mole can’t help recalling the time last year when politicians agreed to tone their rhetoric down due to the very real consequences of toxic politics.
