Things aren’t getting any better for the Lib Dems. Lembit Öpik, one of the party’s stars, has just lost Montgomeryshire to the Tories on a huge 13.2 per cent swing.
Nick Clegg’s gang appears to be doing far worse than anyone would have expected, even before the leaders’ debates. This is a big win for the Tories. Earlier polls suggested they would struggle to make gains from the Lib Dems.
