Why John Bercow must be re-elected

Buckingham must vote for a reforming Speaker being unjustly challenged.

By James Macintyre

The excellent James Landale of the BBC has been in Buckingham, and says that John Bercow is likely to be re-elected because the opposition to him is “disparate”. The piece is a reminder of the urgent situation there.

Last Wednesday, I set out in some detail the case for re-electing Bercow, but — after a bit of a discussion kicked off — the post was swiftly drowned by a little business called “bigotgate”. I’m linking to that case again, in the hope that people in Buckhingham and elsewhere will read it.
