Sudan's election results point to the country's next political hurdle

The official results of Sudan’s elections returned Omar al-Bashir as president once again. But in the semi-autonomous south of the country, voters voted overwhelmingly for Salva Kiir, the region’s incumbent leader and Sudan’s vice-president. For many Sudanese, it seems, the referendum on the south’s independence, due in 2011, will be more significant than this election.
