Michael Chanan’s video blog: Defending libraries

FILM: Mary Warnock, Blake Morrison and south London residents take action against library closures.

By Staff Blogger

Across the country, 5 February saw read-ins at dozens of libraries threatened with closure. Michael Chanan filmed four of them in south London, along the way encountering Mary Warnock, Lucy Mangan, Blake Morrison, a lot of angry and articulate local residents, the duo Sly & Reggie, and the University of Strategic Optimism.

Michael Chanan is professor of film at Roehampton University. His video blog documents the emerging anti-cuts movement and will lead to a full-length film. You can watch previous instalments here.
