David Lammy’s local newspaper mixes him up with a former junta leader from Sierra Leone

"If anyone knows who this guy is please let him know he's now the MP for Tottenham. . ."

By Media Mole

Clearly the Tottenham and Wood Green Independent has a bad case of post-election fatigue.

This morning, the newspaper illustrated a web article on local Labour MP David Lammy with. . .  a photograph of former Sierra Leone military president Julius Maada Bio.

Maada Bio led a military coup in 1996 and was the Sierra Leone People’s Party presidential candidate in Sierra Leone’s 2012 election.

Luckily, Lammy himself spotted the mix-up and posted a screenshot to Twitter, joking that someone should let the man know about his new role.

MP for Tottenham since a 2000 by-election, Lammy recently retained his seat with a 28,654 majority.

This mole is yet to hear what Maada Bio makes of his new job.
