Kate’s bump: we get the media we deserve

As Twitter fills with disgust over a woman being "fat" less than 24 hours after giving birth, OK magazine reassures readers that Kate Middleton will not disgust them with her "bump" for long.

So it turns out that lots of people don’t understand how pregnant women work. And other people are just sad, mean, randy or misogynistic . . .

Oh well, you might say. That’s just people on Twitter. They’re always calling people fat or unshaggable.

So let’s see the other half of the conversation . . . here’s OK magazine pressuring the Duchess of Cambridge into losing her “baby weight” before she’s even stopped having to sit on a bag of frozen peas.

(I think maybe the worst thing about this cover is that they clearly printed it before she’d even had the child.)

Still, a welcome burst of sanity came from TV presenter Katy Hill, who tweeted:
