Bin Laden’s death: US front pages

The New York Post’s verdict on Bin Laden’s death: “US nails the bastard”.

The news of Bin Laden's death broke in time for the US papers to cover the story on their front pages. Here are two that caught my eye. The Old Grey Lady simply leads with "Bin Laden killed by US forces in Pakistan, Obama says". But Rupert Murdoch's New York Post offers a less restrained response.

Retraction and apology perhaps?'s picture

i thought he died 3 years ago... this is all seems a little to planned like releasing government files 50 years or so after the event ... this a premeditated release of information . they take the world for fools

The American media has lost its goddamn mind like a child who woke up to a better Christmas than expected. What's worse is they're fueling the emotional climax of the people, which is dangerous. Why isn't anyone in the American media criticising the US for not producing a body or no friggin' evidence? Or perhaps for not arresting him and trying him in international court?

Bin Laden would never have got an international trial for "reasons of National Security". The lack of a body does beg a few questions though.

I anxiously await confirmation of alleged death from Wikileaks.

If you want to kill someone and have no questions asked, what better way to do it then to dispose of the body?

Now, all we have is Obama's version of this. Also, in case anyone's thinking he should be impeached for this, you have to have evidence. Again, no body. Various people involved who could possibly lie under oath.

Anyone remember Pat Tillman's case? Not one high-ranking officer did jail time. Most got "reprimands" and then quietly retired with full pay and benefits.

In 2012, despite everything he's done, millions will still vote for Obama.

"Strange to think that millions of people actually think this will change things for the better."

This snobbish attitude that I'm seeing from a lot of people on the left - a grouping I include myself in - is sickening.

For literally hundreds of thousands of people his death will give a sense of justice, relief and possible closure. That in itself is an inarguable case of change for the better.
