James Macintyre leaves the New Statesman
By New Statesman Published 09 November 2010 10:12
James Macintyre has left the New Statesman after two years as political correspondent in order to work on other projects.
His departure is entirely amicable.
James joined the New Statesman as a political correspondent in September 2008, having previously worked for the Independent, the BBC and Granada.
James said: "I have worked for the NS for over two years during a fascinating period of change both on the magazine and in politics. It is now the right time for me to pursue other projects. I wish the NS every success and I'm looking forward to writing for the magazine in the future."
Jason Cowley, New Statesman editor, said: "James has been a popular and enthusiastic member of the team. He is an excellent reporter and his interviews, with the likes of Rowan Williams and other leading figures in the culture, have been outstanding. He will be much missed by his former colleagues."

Best wishes for the future.
Good luck, James.
That would explain his lack of input - on this site - one thought he was on another 'jolly' !
See Yous Jimmy !
I thought he was having a sulk because Ed won...
Cheerio and good luck James
I for one will miss you.
Guido you're too kind!!
Shortly to be followed, I hope, by Laurie Penny (who said on Radio 4 the the other day that she had lived in a 'semi-squat' - Laurie, you either live in a squat or you don't, there is no in-between).
Good luck, James. I have enjoyed your articles.
@ Freeman - I hope Laurie Penny does not follow him too soon - she writes intelligent articles which cause plenty of thought, and is not afraid of controversy. Good to have a feminist perspective, even if I disagree with the details at times.
I've always thought that it would be good to see someone like Shami Chakrabarti write for the New Statesman.
Too much of this follows the official Labour line for my liking.
I too am sorry to see him go.
All the best, James. Hope it goes well.
