Did Cameron get it wrong at PMQs?

Here is a letter just sent by Ed Balls, the Schools Secretary, to the Conservative leader, David Cameron, who made a number of allegations at Prime Minister's Questions today. Cameron's accusations concerned the extent to which the Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir does or does not receive government money.

Balls gets it wrong

There is no doubt that there is a link between Hizbt-ut Tahrir and the schools in question

The funding was actually suspended last month because of the concerns raised by the CSC report

The issue is whether such a group should be permitted to have any involvement in education

The Balls letter does not address the central issues and just smears

Which is just the sort of thing we have come to expect - and you are likely to applaud

Cameron was working from an independent report that raises legitimate questions. Any sensible person can see that

As usual Balls fails to address the issues. Just as with the baby P case he seems ill prepared to respond

and instead looks to criticise without giving a satisfactory explanation. He left Brown up the creek without a paddle through failing to adequately brief Brown. Hizb ut tahrir have been raised in the house at PMQ's before and labour have not got to grips with the issues surrounding them.

Haringey Council said it launched an investigation into claims about the school in its area on 26 October and funding had been suspended pending the outcome.

So to suspened it they had to be paying it.
