A screening of Derek Jarman's "Wittgenstein" in association with Verso and the New Statesman.

The New Statesman and Verso Books, which is celebrating its 40th birthday, are delighted to announce a screening of Derek Jarman's 1993 film Wittgenstein at Tate Modern this Friday (22 October). After the screening, I'll be talking to the film's producer, Tariq Ali, about its gestation. Ali originally commissioned a script about Wittgenstein by Terry Eagleton as part of a Channel 4 series, "The Philosophers", which was also to include films on Socrates, Spinoza and Locke, none of which was ever made.

The film will be shown in Tate Modern's Starr auditorium at 6.30pm. Tickets cost £8 (£6 concesssions) and can be booked here.
