Guardian server meltdown liveblog – as it happened

On the hottest day of the year, the Guardian servers went into meltdown. Follow our timeline of key events below.

There was some gentle teasing of the Guardian yesterday as they ran a liveblog of the heatwave. The blog charted temperatures and asked readers to write in with their keep cool tips.

Unfortunately, nobody was able to provide a tip big enough to cool their King’s Place offices.

At 15:15, Guardian journalist Saptarshi Ray tweeted about the air conditioning:
