More plaudits for the award-winning New Statesman

By Staff Blogger

The NS has consolidated its position as Britain’s pre-eminent current affairs magazine with three major award nominations.

John Kampfner, NS editor, has been shortlisted for Editor of the Year in the Periodical Publishers Association awards for editorial and publishing excellence.

Alice O’Keeffe, our arts editor, has been shortlisted in the Writer of the Year category.

Martin Bright, our political editor, has been shortlisted for the Orwell Prize for journalism, the UK’s top award for political writing.

These accolades follow a string of awards in 2006. These included Current Affairs Magazine of the Year from the British Society of Magazine Editors last November, and four prizes at the Press Gazette magazine awards in October: Exclusive of the Year for Bright; Reviewer of the Year for Andrew Billen; plus two awards for our acclaimed new design.

Earlier this year, the NS recorded a 25-year high in circulation.
