Turkey and US agree Syria ceasefire plan, but Kurds unlikely to be happy

Turkey has agreed to halt its offensive in Northern Syria for the next five days in deal unlikely to please Kurds violently forced out of the region. The deal, agreed between Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US vice president Mike Pence, is designed to give Syrian Kurd forces time to withdraw from the region ahead of a full ceasefire. 

Johnson to tout deal to MPs ahead of Saturday vote

Boris Johnson is set for a furious 24 hours drumming up support of his proposed withdrawal deal with the European Union ahead of an expected vote in parliament on Saturday. Chances of the deal passing remain in the balance with the DUP on Thursday sticking to their position that it did not provide an acceptable solution for Northern Ireland. 

Rough sleepers evicted after Westminster chaplain complaint

A group of rough sleepers have been evicted from tunnels around Westminster tube station following a complaint from the chaplain to the speaker of the house of commons. In a letter first uncovered by the New Statesman, Rose Hudson-Wilkin complained about the “stench” and supposed security risk posed by the homeless using the tunnel for shelter.

Prince Harry has told an ITV documentary that camera flashes provide a reminder of the tragic circumstances surrounding the death of his mother Princess Diana, The prince and his wife Meghan Markle are embroiled in legal tussles with a number of UK newspapers over their privacy.

Fierce fighting in Northern Mexico as El Chapo’s son discovered

Intense fighting erupted in Northern Mexico on Thursday after authorities temporarily captured the son of notorious Sinaloa cartel leader Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman during a routine patrol. State forces were forced to release Ovidio Guzmán and withdraw in the face of a huge attack by armed cartel fighters in the city of Culiacán.
