This George Papadopoulos is being mistaken for Trump’s old adviser and his mother is not impressed

“I am not Donald Trump’s foreign policy adviser”.

By Julia Rampen

On Sunday 29 October, US authorities revealed that a Greek-American former policy adviser to Donald Trump named George Papadopoulos had been arrested and agreed to co-operate with the probe into US President Donald Trump.

Thousands of miles away, in a little Greek village, a financial planner from Michigan was visiting his mother when suddenly everyone in the world wanted to get in touch with him.

George Papadopoulos, whose family village is full of other Papadopouloses, has been christened the “new John Lewis”, after the American sharing a name with a department store, over the way he has dealt with the attention.

Since releasing a Monty Pythonesque tweet – “I am NOT Trump’s foreign policy adviser” – Papadopoulos has been updating the world on his trip to Greece.

His mother is not impressed with his worldwide fame.

But at least there’s covfefe.

And others to share the pain.

Even if he’s not as innocent as he looks.
