The New Statesman is looking for a talented all-round journalist to cover evening editing duties in, along with other writing, reporting and editing.

This role will involve working a 2pm-10pm shift during the week, with occasional weekend cover which can be done remotely. It is a mid-level role that needs someone independent, creative and dedicated.

The job will involve:

Pitching ideas, commissioning writers and editing copy.

Posting stories and promoting them on social media.

Writing articles on a broad range of subjects.

The ideal candidate will have:

At least two years’ experience as a journalist in a similar field.

Experience of editing and/or sub-editing.

A good portfolio of written work.

A strong interest in and knowledge of British and international politics.

We’re looking for someone with energy, ideas and a fascination with the subjects the New Statesman covers. The salary is variable, depending on experience.
