Remembering Jim Naughtie’s finest moment on the Today programme

The presenter has departed after 21 years on the Radio 4 current affairs show.

By Media Mole

Veteran broadcaster James Naughtie has signed off from BBC Radio 4’ Today programme for the last time, after 21 years on the show.

His voice cracked with emotion as he said his final “From John and from me, good morning” at the end of this morning’s edition. He now becomes the BBC’s books editor and will remain a “special correspondent” for Radio 4.

The BBC has put together the traditional celebratory highlights package from his two decades in the presenter’s chair, backed with melancholy string music and featuring clips from Alan Bennett, David Cameron and Ringo Starr.

However, this mole is shocked to find that the BBC have overlooked arguably Naughtie’s finest achievement in broadcasting – what we might term his “Jeremy Hunt” moment. Remind yourself:

Good luck, Jim. This mole will miss you.
