Show Hide image Politics 24 March 2010 Guardian chief Carolyn McCall to be new easyJet boss Carolyn McCall, the chief executive of the Guardian Media Group (GMG), is to take over the controls Sign-up The carrier will announce that McCall is replacing Andy Harrison, who will take the top job at Whitbread. McCall is said to have beaten former Marks & Spencer director Carl Leaver to the post. Harrison quit in the wake of a disagreements with Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the airline's founder who, along with his family members, owns 38 per cent of easyJet shares. Sir Stelios has reportedly approved McCall's appointment. McCall is a former non-executive director of Tesco, and became GMG chief executive in August 2006. SUBSCRIBE More
