“You are so pompous”: Watch as Nick Clegg masterfully sasses Piers Morgan

“What an extraordinary man.”

By Media Mole

Your mole has often thought there isn’t enough sass in British politics. “Mugwump” isn’t sassy, it’s the BFG morphed into your bigoted great uncle at the Christmas dinner table. “Coalition of chaos” isn’t sassy, it’s Morrissey describing a sex scene.

So it is with gratitude that we receive Nick Clegg giving tabloid-made-flesh Piers Morgan a spectacular sassing during an interview on Good Morning Britain.

“A lot of students in the country would look at you think, ‘that was a pretty cynical move to promise the end of tuition fees and then treble them’,” Morgan told the former Lib Dem leader with a gleeful grin. “But I will take you at your word that you are the shining bastion of non-cynicism in an otherwise a cesspit of cynicism in Westminster, and thank God you’re here.”

A piece of lazy sarcasm at which Clegg closed his eyes, looked down, shook his head, rearranged himself in his seat and sighed: “What an extraordinary man. You are so pompous Piers, you really are!”
