Russell Brand endorses Jeremy Corbyn to lead Labour

Russell Brand, who vowed never to be moved by British politics again following Ed Miliband's shock defeat, has been won over by Jeremy Corbyn.

By New Statesman

Russell Brand, the comedian and political activist, has thrown his weight behind Jeremy Corbyn in the latest edition of his online television programme, the Trews.

Brand, who in an essay for the New Statesman vowed never to vote, was won over after interviewing Ed Miliband, who secured the influential performer’s endorsement. Following Miliband’s shock defeat, Brand appeared to withdraw from parliamentary politics. But the surge in support for Corbyn – the Islington North MP is the overwhelming favourite to win the  Labour leadership – appears to have drawn Brand back in.
