They may not be in the TV debates, but there’s still a chance to grill the Greens

YouTube politics.

The Greens are continuing to push for being included in the televised leaders’ debates. So far, none of the broadcasters who will host the debates have yielded, in spite of a huge petition to include the Greens.

However, there is still a chance for voters to see Natalie Bennett being grilled. She has been invited, along with the other party leaders, by the campaign group Bite the Ballot, to do a livestream discussion via YouTube.

It’s called “Leaders Live”, and though they won’t be debating with each other, David Cameron, Nick Clegg, Ed Miliband, Nigel Farage, and Natalie Bennett have all agreed to take part. They will each have a livestream conversation with an online audience, who can put questions to them through social media, intended specifically for young people. And they won’t be wearing suits.

And it looks like this organisation will also be the only one to include the SNP’s leader as well, as it clarifies that it is in talks with the SNP and Plaid Cymru about getting their leaders involved.

These online discussions should be worth a watch: they’re live, a “wildcard” topic will be chosen for each politician at the last minute, and who knows what they will wear instead of suits?
