Video: Angela Merkel doused in beer

German Chancellor remains calm as waiter upends a tray of beer onto her back.

A video of a waiter spilling five glasses of beer on Angela Merkel has gone viral. The waiter serves her a glass of beer, when someone bumps into him causing him to upend his tray onto the German Chancellor’s back.

 

Merkel gasps, then smiles and recovers. She gave a speech soon afterwards. This calmness was not in evidence in 2006, when George W Bush gave her an impromptu shoulder massage:
