‘I would like to see spin thrown in the dustbin. I have been involved in politics since my early thirties and I do not remember a time when there was so much disillusionment with politicians. The importance of rebuilding some sort of confidence in politicans should now be the pirority. I was also 100 per cent totally against the Iraq war.’
