Parliamentary sketchwriter for the Telegraph Michael Deacon incurred the wrath of Ukip supporters, following a sketch he wrote describing David Cameron’s obsession with discussing Nigel Farage and his party.
Ukippers were not happy, particularly not with a passage about oats and berries. Here it is:
“Cup of tea, David darling?”
“I certainly will have a cup of tea, dear. And I make no apology for that. If you listen to Nigel Farage, he’ll say, ‘No. No, I won’t have a cup of tea.’ Because Nigel Farage believes we should turn our backs on the world, pull up the drawbridge, turn back the clock, and live exclusively off oats, berries and whatever other foodstuffs are indigenous to these islands.”
Somehow, this eventually led to some bitchy remarks from his detractors about, er, pike and carp.
