Mercury Prize shortlist announced

Nominees for the top music award include Corinne Bailey Rae, the xx and Dizzee Rascal.

The shortlist for the 2010 Mercury Prize has been announced. According to a panel of judges drawn from across the music industry, the top 12 albums of the past year are:

Paul Weller, Wake Up the Nation

Mumford and Sons, Sigh No More

Corinne Bailey Rae, The Sea

Villagers, Becoming a Jackal

Biffy Clyro, Only Revolutions
