BBC Panorama to expose Saudi influence in British Islamic schools

Some Saudi textbooks include antisemitic content, advocate stoning and warn of "hellfire" for non-be

BBC One's investigative show Panorama will expose how Islamic schools in the UK are teaching Saudi national curriculum to thousands of British school children.

The programme, British Schools Muslim Rules, to be aired on Monday night at 8.30pm will show that the schools are exposing Muslim children to textbooks claiming that some Jews were transformed into pigs and apes, and that some offences could be punished with stoning.

The programme will also show that some text books teach the correct way to chop off the hands and feet of thieves.

One book aimed at six-year olds is believed to warn those who do not believe in Islam will be condemned to "hellfire" in death.

Panorama quotes Michael Gove, the education secretary, as saying: "Saudi Arabia is a sovereign country. I have no desire or wish to intervene in the decisions that the Saudi government makes in its own education system. But I'm clear that we cannot have antisemitic material of any kind being used in English schools."
