Simon Cowell to leave UK 'X Factor' for American Spin-off

The future of both 'X Factor' and 'Britain's Got Talent' is in doubt.

Simon Cowell is planning to quit Britain's "X Factor" and focus on the US version of his show, beginning next September, reports the Sun.

"At the moment you are going to see me doing one show next year - and not one in England. I have a contract for this year and that is it," said the reality TV star on Monday night.

Cowell said he had not decided if the show would continue without him as a judge.

He also pondered over the future of "Britain's Got Talent" which will feature a new panel this season, as Cowell, along with judges Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden, is set to leave the show.

Alexandra Burke, who won the 'X factor' competition in 2008, said on the 'Daybreak' show, "It's hard to really say when you don't know the facts of it and when you don't know if it's completely true but I say, it's always nice to maybe try something new."

Burke added that it would be "weird" for X-factor to go on without Cowell.
