BBC Asian Network announces 15 new documentaries

Investigative programmes covering broad array of British Asian topics are scheduled for airing

The BBC Asian Network has announced 15 new documentaries that will investigate issues relevant to the UK's Asian communities - from the slums in India, to the Commonwealth Games and radicalism, Radio Today reports.

The new commissions will be broadcast on the network until April next year. The series began with a 30 minute documentary on the floods in Pakistan, broadcast on Wednesday.

The original programming will challenge current issues and offer an in-depth investigation into many of the subject areas that are of interest not just to the Asian Network audience but also to other media outlets.

The Asian Network won the Best Speech Programme for Nihal's afternoon show and the Bronze Award for the Asian Network Reports - Passport To Murder News Special, at this year's Sony Radio Academy Awards, adds the report.
