The former Labour minister Tom Harris MP said today on Twitter that “[a]ny minister who puts civil liberties ahead of security should be in student politics, not government”.
Are these wise words from someone who gets that civil liberties are all very well, but some things are simply more important?
Or is this just further evidence that the Labour Party remains in its awkward post-2001 state as the United Kingdom’s Illiberal Party?
Discuss.
