The pandemic has provided fertile conditions for misinformation to spread, he argues: fear and paranoia, an unseen enemy, a need for global co-ordination, and celebrity involvement. 

"Both the 5G and anti-vaxx movements have woven the coronavirus pandemic into their pre-existing narratives, and have grown in prominence and visibility as a result," he argues.
