Mugabe's ruse

It comes as no surprise that Robert Mugabe (Observations, 15 January) is offering white farmers land. It seems he must do something to revive his country's crippled economy. However, people should not be fooled that Mugabe will fulfil his promise. It is the ordinary citizens who suffer the most under his regime. If he really wanted to revive the economy and help Zimbabweans, why does he still order members of his party to kill, rape and torture members of the opposition, who are only campaigning for peace and justice in a country desperate for change?
