Gemma Tumelty is President of the NUS. She studied at Liverpool John Moores University, became NUS National Secretary 2005-06. She was the seventh woman to become NUS president in the organisation's 83 years.

Students are constantly being portrayed as apathetic, as blind consumers of bland 'tick a box and you'll get a job-style higher education' - not to mention maxing out their credit cards when they're not snoozing till midday or stumbling home blind drunk.
