Director Tony Scott dies aged 68

Tony Scott, the Hollywood director known for blockbusters including Top Gun and Crimson Tide, died on Sunday in Los Angeles.

His death is being investigated as a suicide, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's office.

Scott, known for his signature red cap, directed over two dozen movies and television shows, and produced many more.  His films, mainly action thrillers, attracted some of Hollywood's biggest stars, including Tom Cruise, Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, Robert De Niro, Gene Hackman, Will Smith, Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. He is best known for hs work on Top Gun, but his directing credits also include Beverly Hills Cop II, Days of Thunder, Unstoppable and Crimson Tide.
