United Kingdom: unemployment

The graph above shows UK unemployment since 1984. Joblessness fell significantly after the 1992 recession, reaching a low of 4.7 per cent in 2004, but rose again following the financial crisis of 2008, particularly among young people.

Unemployment now stands at 2.62 million Britons (8.3 per cent of the population) and is forecast to peak at 2.8 million in the coming year.
